Thankful Thursday

Photobucket
I can hardly beleive it is November 5th already.... why is time in such a hurry? Every day is filled with responsibilities thankfully fraught with joy! Today I had a pleasant meeting with the librarian of our local library regarding the 2 library books I returned in September, but were somehow missing in October. Unfortunately, they were not catalogued at the desk and the overdue fines were multiplying on my account. The fines were stopped last month with the comment that I continue searching the house, even though I remembered turning them in. Upon turning the house upside down looking I finally, painlessly, had the issue resolved this morning. I'm afraid in this economy and this lack of morality, just laying returned books and films on an open counter may not be the best manner to proceed... sorry to say!
Times certainly have changed... All one has to do to realize this sad fact is to peruse the local newspaper, unsolved crimes and terrible accounts of treachery fill the pages. God tells us in his Word that "times" will continue to worsen.... worse than the days of Noah. I beleive that!
God also tells us to watch and know the times!
As the days of Noah were, the days that were before the flood, people were going about business as usual. They were not looking for or expecting the flood to come. It came and took them by surprise—they all perished. So shall also the coming of the Son of man be....Mt 24:38,39. WATCH THEREFORE.
If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee like a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come.. Rev 3:3.
Take heed, lest Jesus comes and finds you unprepared and not expecting His return.....
Lk 21:34.
WATCH,
lest Jesus comes suddenly and finds you sleeping....Mk 13:35,36.
It is written of this lukewarm generation: They all slumbered and slept.... Rev 3:16; Mt 25:5. But we are told by God's Word: LET US NOT SLEEP, as do others; but
LET US WATCH
and be sober...1 Thes 5:6.
BLESSED ARE THOSE "SERVANTS" whom the Lord when He cometh shall find WATCHING....
Lk 12:37.
UNTO "THEM" that LOOK FOR HIM shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation..Heb 9:28.
ARE "YOU"
WATCHING
FOR THE SOON RETURN OF JESUS?
I am so thankful for God's teaching on this very important part of the gospel message! His Word tells us exactly what we need to know about
Watching
and being ready for Jesus return for His own! It could be sooner that you realize!
My lamp is filled with oil!!! Praise God!

Daily Pearls

Through my window: A brisk, but sunny dawn!
Photobucket
Through my door: I will be leaving soon to go to a Bible study breakfast.. we will be starting a new teacher as our dear Marlene is taking a hiatus during this time that her mentor and spritual mother, Doris is recouperating. Our prayers are with you, Doris! Then I will stop in at mom's. Her face is improving but her knee is still swollen and the hematoma is not going down very much even with the continuing ice packs. Please pray for her knee to return to normal.. Mom's spirit is weakening...

Hearing: the hustle and bustle of cars whizzing past outside on their way to work, school, and what have you!

What's Cooking: Tonight is meatloaf night at church....

Hearth and Home: yesterday was a great day of clearing out the old and amiing room for the new.... I packed up 3 large bags of old clothes ( my fat clothes that I refuse to ever have to wear again) and took them along with 3 old bed spreads I have been hanging on to to the Good Will. Oh, it is good to lighten up, isn't it???
HAHA, my closets are still full, though, with scads of clothes waiting to be brought up in the laundry room.....hopefully, I'll be in that same throw away mode again quite soon!
I also, cleared out and rearranged the studio!!!YAYA!!!!
Healthy Living:three more pounds off last week! Persevere! Enjoy then blessing!!!

Creative Corner: Cleaning out the studio was a giant step toward thinking creatively don't you agree!!!!

On My Mind: I am excited about the outcome of the election.... God is faithful... to allow for godly men to serve and to help preserve Christian values in Maine! Hallelujah!!!Citizens must remain vigilant and use our God given civic responsibilities to let our representatives know how we feel about the workings of our government. I am writing my Senator this afternoon.

My prayer life: I am praying to see God at work around me so I might join Him in His work to bring about his kingdom work. I am praying against the enemy's attack on our institutions and our way of life. I am being still and listening for God's small voice. My deep desire is to know His will and live in it! I wrote this last week but it is my on-going initiative!!!!!

Gratefulness: For Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
I am seeing this in every area of my life.... Oh, Lord, give me the wisdom, the patience, and the faith, to never react out of frustration, anger, or self-centeredness. Help keep me focused on Your purposes, trusting when I dont know your plan, and waiting for your timing in all things.... I love you, Lord!!!!
Praying: Dear Lord, please heal mother's knee. I plead the blood of Jesus over her body, and pray that by His stripes she is healed! I , also, lift up Doris to You, Father, She needs your healing touch. Recreate in her those things she needs for full recovery... her heart and kidneys, Lord, bless her and fill her with Your strength! I lift up Ross to you, that in this coming hour he will have clarity of mind to recall all that he needs to do well on his tests today and tomorrow and that your perfect will for his life will come to fruition! Heal Drew, Father and be glorified in the mracle you are doing there! Be with the family of the 2 year old who fell and suffered brain loss, Oh, God, recreate in her new life and restore her to her family In Jesus Name!!!! .

Planning: I am excited about attending the Intercessors Prayer Workshop at Patrick Henry College this weekend! Some of our prayer ladies are attending with me and I know it will be a joyous and very beneficial time with other beleivers!!!!

Simple Pleasures: seeing God in our wonderful daughter... her sweetness, her loving nature... her wisdom and compassion!

Prayer for Today

From the Upper Room
Photobucket

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."Psalm 34:17

This is such a very important election. If you are like me you feel the groaning of creation as sin catapults us farther and farther from the glory we once experienced in the Garden before humankind plunged us into the clutches of the enemy who seeks to devour and destroy. I particularly feel this death-grip on our nation... it seems as if the enemy has blinded so many into beleiving a lie which is being perpetrated which is undermining the core values, and even the very material of which our nation was forged. As a retired teacher of Virginia History I am so saddened by the initiaitve of rewriting our wonderful history removing all mention of God from our marvelous birth as a nation. Now instead of for religious freedom, our founding fathers colonized America for economic reasons......for this and so many other reasons of which I pray more and more Americans are realizing, this election and particularly the next one will be tantamount in our attempt to staunch the flow of liberty that is radidly evaporating from our grasp. I urge you today to meet with me today in deep, soaking prayer for our nation.. let's agree together that Godly men and women will be elected who will stand in the gap in our government.. With God all things are possible!!!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY...November 2, 2009 from Schotzy's Daybook
Outside my window... now that we are into daylight standard time the sun met me cheerily as I looked out. It is nice to have sun in the morning now but the evenings are so long!

I am thinking... that I wish my husband was retired.... he is planning on eeking out 2 more years

I am thankful for... his job and that he is happy at work... I know it is selfish of me to want him home, but he is very fortunate to have a job that he likes and that has provided for us all these years

I am wearing... my white long sleeved blouse which I havent been able to wear in quite a while and new khaki pants.

I am remembering... the visit we had with Amanda and Joshua in their wonderful home in MA. She posted photos of it on Facebook which brought it all back to me this morning.

I am going... to be taking mom to the doctor this morning. Her knee is not quite right. we just want to have the doctor look at it... I hope we wont hear any bad news....

I am reading...Beth Moore's Daniel preparing for chapter 9, First Place for health unit 4, Experiencing God chapter 8, I think,,, I need to get started on that today.... no time for anything else.

I am hoping... the right people win the election tomorrow!!!!!!!

On my mind... my friend Dottie! I havent heard from her in a couple of days and am somewhat concerned. I'll give her a call a little later.

From the learning rooms... end times from the book of Daniel

Noticing that... my hair needs a touch-up.... badly!!!

Pondering these words... Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. C. S. Lewis

From the kitchen... I'm braising a pork roast to make barbecue.... one of Lynn's favorites... also i ahve abut half of a delicious Floyd County cabbage (fresh, fresh, fresh) to make some cole slaw... Lynn will be one happy man!

From my picture journal...

Happy Pink Saturday!!!!!

Daily Pearls

Through my window: It is a rather gray day, but the vibrant folliage does offer a bit of cheer. The colors are fading quickly now, it seems however.
Photobucket

Through my door: I was out early this morning to go get my allergy shot, and then stopped in at krogers to pick up my food for the Thanksgiving food baskets that we need to take to church on Sunday! Our class is bringing in soups and mac and cheese. The I stopped in at mom's to check on their situation today. We unwrapped her knee to get some air. It is looking much better, all things considered! And the swelling in her face is better. The blood is draining on down her neck and bodice, but she looked brighter and was more cheerful today!

Photobucket
I started their lunch for them and left both mom and dad in good spirits... ready to watch one of their fav shows, Matlock.

Hearing: the quiet murmur of the ceiling fan. It is a quiet afternoon here.

What's Cooking: Hoping for dinner out tonight! We'll see! Lynn told me last night I'd really provided lots of good eats this week.... maybe a deserve to be treated out this evening

Hearth and Home: We did get the sunroom sofa off to the upholstery shop yesterday, and now i'm busy perusing this months Southern Lady Holiday edition for holiday house trimming....

Healthy Living:I am thrilled that the scales keep going down this week! I am into the next smaller size... I am thrilled to be wearing a pair of khaki slacks I havent worn in quite a while!

Creative Corner: still no plans right now.

On My Mind: I've been thinking a lot about the Tea Party that is being held this afternoon where concerned citizens are lining the major thoroughfare with their placards showing their extreme dismay with the proposed health care bill our government is trying to pass. I have deep reservations about this plan. Every doctor I have spoken to, thinks it is definitely the wrong direction for our country, and I agree. I am thinking that our government lies to push an agenda, and I am praying that truth will be uncovered and rational minds will prevail!

My prayer life: I am praying to see God at work around me so I might join Him in His work to bring about his kingdom work. I am praying against the enemy's attack on our institutions and our way of life. I am being still and listening for God's small voice. My deep desire is to know His will and live in it!

Gratefulness: I am so grateful to have my parents and pray that the Lord will sustain them in their health, strength, and stability.
Praying:I particualrly lift up Doris to the Father today! Father, She heeds your healing touch. Recreate in her those things she needs for full recovery... her heart and kidneys, Lord, bless her and fill her with Your strength! In Jesus Name!!!! I prayed this last week, and I must keep this prayer and of course add my mom and dad for continued strength and healing.

Planning: Just trying to keep my head above water...

Simple Pleasures: seeing God's treasure in simple everyday things...

Show and Tell

Since my last post was praising the values found in consignment shops I thought I'd elaborate on my wonderful drop leaf cocktail table I also found last week... for $25.
Photobucket
I love it so much more than anything I could find in the furniture store for multple times more cost. From now on, I'll definitely check the consignment shops first!

Consignment Finds

I love Consignment shops, especially in this economy. We have a wonderful high end clothing shop called the Golden Shoestring where I found the most wonderful Burberry tote with the tag still attached for a song!

But this past week I was extremely pleased to run across a host of English Cotswold cottages just like the three I already had collected years ago!

Favorite Family Foto.

Deborah of Pictures, Pots, and Pens used to host this theme each Friday and I am terribly compelled to post this theme this week. My heart is so full of love for my family I just needed to release some of it by creating this collage of our lives together.
Photobucket

I am so thankful for our small but wonderful family! Being an only child, having an only child who married an only child makes for a tight, and very closeknit family! I praise the Lord for putting us all together in just this way.

Thankful

This photo was taken Sunday night at the ER after mom fell in the bathroom. We were having trouble keeping the ice pack on her forehead, but you can see how the swelling was affecting her eye. The main concern initially was the possibility of brain bleed.

Praise God she was protected from that. Being on couminin makes one more susceptible but, thankfully her blood was actually at 2.9 that night which is a thicker level which probably helped her immeasurably. I firmly believe that God prepared her blood in advance to protect her. We are so thankful that nothing was broken and that she is getting along so well.

Photobucket

This bottom picture shows her state as the blood is draining from the contusion on her forehead. The doctor said it would probably drain all the way down her trunk! But thankfully mom is feeling much better now that her questions and concerns have been allayed today by the doctor's visit! I am extremely thankful for God's provision , His healing and the comfort and peace we are experiencing through this ordeal.

BTW, This photo below was taken this past summer.
